This is the first impression of your website, try not to over optimise the heading logo. You can link it to your home page, but make sure its linking to the canonical url.

Make sure the header is done professionally and is very low on size.

You can even use tokens in the headers alt tag. The token can pull in the title or the first or second keyword. That way, every page has a different alt tag or heading.
