How to use Google Webmaster Tools
The best function of google webmaster tools, is the xml sitemap submit. Alot of websites may have generic
sitemaps but some like forums have different sitemap urls, depending on the software used. Submitting your sitemap
to google every time you make a major change is always a good idea, but once you have done it, you can just leave
it. But you should pop by and check your sitemaps, because one day you could have an error. You can also see
how many urls are in your sitemap and how many google have indexed from it.
Sign up here, if you have a google email account already, it will take seconds.

Add your domains, you will need to verify your domain to prove that it is yours. They have done
this security measure because they have included other options that could potentially ruin your website
if someone else claimed to own your website.
You also need to change the settings so that google knows your preference website www i.e
http://www.website-checker.com is preferred over http://website-checker.com
To get indexed by google quickly put your link on a site that gets crawled often such as a blogging site, or add
your site url to several sites.
Check how many pages are indexed.
To check how many pages are indexed with google, login to google webmaster tools, select the website, then click
on the sitemap tab and you can monitor how many pages you have indexed from your URL.
Its common for webmasters to check there website and competitors websites using the "site:" search
code in google.
To do this type this in the google search bar
site:http://www.sitename.com
You will see how many pages are indexed, if no search results are found, you have not waited long
enough.
Using both methods, you will see a difference in pages indexed, (if you have a larger website.) Google
webmaster tools will tell you how many pages are indexed from the sitemap. Google search will show you all
pages currently indexed. i.e old urls, pages that aren't included in sitemap etc Click here to see How to get more pages indexed.
Google Webmaster Tools will also alert you if you have the same page titles.
Malware Removal.
If you have a malware warning about your website when you are searching google or firefox is stopping you from
viewing your website. Then you need to remove the malware and go to google webmaster tools and ask for a
reconsideration. xsitepro users can delete there websites and republish there whole website. But remember to
back up your favicon. Google say that they send you an email with malware warning, but the last time it
happened, I only found out, because of the drop in traffic.
