Choosing your Page Titles
|
Your page Title is considered the most important factor for seo, (and second most important factor is H1)
(heading tag)
You can put as many words as you want in there, the 167 or 69 character limit is bollocks, its been tested at least up to 250. However as a rule of thumb, I usually keep it to around
11 words. If you use more words, you can dilute your keywords, or if you use less, you could have high keyword
density.
Make sure all your page titles are very accurate and different on every page, also make sure they are not the
exact same as your H1 tag. You can see this site that I made, page title and h1 completely different and targeting
different keywords. example
The title and h1 tag is an ideal way of targeting several different keywords, having them too similar is a
waste of opportunity.
The trick is to add different keywords to your title and h1 tag and then get as many links in as possible to let
google know that your website is relevant for those keywords.
It is better to put the primary keyword at the start, it gives it more weight. i.e
Primary Keyword | Secondary Keyword | Other keywords.
